Watercolor Painting of a Curious Labrador

Here's a digital watercolor painting of a curious Labrador, I usually like to doodle the dogs and wash them with watercolor, just for fun. This time it's a more 'legit' painting, I really like the end result, and already put it on my Redbubble Shop for sale.

As you all know, I am a pet portrait artist,  and from time to time I like to create my pet portraits in a different style and methods. This time I turned again to this wonderful software Rebelle, and painted a cute black and white dog in a loose way, using their wonderful watercolor simulation.

Here is the end result.

Here Comes the Rooster II

Here's a painting that I completed 2 weeks ago, I really like it - it developed during the painting process and I used 3 different painting softwares just to get the desired result. An impressive orange rooster, that will wake everybody up :) The whole atmosphere in this painting is in retro style, one can really see the old faded canvas material.

By the way - the softwares that I used for this painting are - Rebelle 2 by Escape Motions | Corel Painter by Corel | Photoshop by Adobe.

Here is our guy :)

The King of the Blues - Farewell

I am a big fan of B.B. King, since I was 10 years old. My father used to listen to his music, and to tell me how great he is. I guess I just grew up and understood just what he meant. I really thought the he would live forever, because he was an icon for over 60 years, and icons never die…
The minute that I heard about his death, I decided to paint a portrait, to pay my tribute and to say thank you for all those great years.
Here is the portrait, it was rather quick, but I still like it very much.

And here is one of my favorite songs, I really like this version (with Eric Clapton).

"Old Man" (from Pawn Stars) Portrait

Hi there,

I love to watch Pawn Stars on the History Channel. It is somewhat ridiculous, and over played, but I love to see the items, and to learn a little bit about the history, and the fun facts.

The most impressive character there, is (of course) the "Old Man" - Richard Harrison Senior. He is grumpy, annoyed, cheap, and dressed like a classic movie star. His face is every painter's, and photographer's dream. I wanted to paint his portrait for a long time, and finally I  managed to this last week, using watercolors. I really liked the result, it is loose, has warm colors, and really captures his essence.

I Need an Easy Friend

Hi there,

Once in a while when I have time, I paint something that is completely different from my usual stuff.
This time I planned to paint portraits of musicians and artists that I admire. So far... I just have Kurt Cobain under my sleeve,  but I'm sure some other talented people will join soon :)

Here is my digital painting of Kurt, it is quite unusual, I wanted to keep it somewhat live, grungy and organic.

If you like this piece, you can get it on my Digital Art shop.

For all of you who love Nirvana, here is one of my favorite songs :

Here Comes a Rooster

Here is a surprising animal portrait!

I like to paint pets  - mostly dogs, but once in a while I want to quick paint a different kind of animal. I don't know why I chose to paint a red rooster, it could be Alice in Chains or Willie Dixon's influence, but I always thought the this animal is impressive. Fierce, tough, and red!

Check out the painting, I think it is pretty cool!

Check it out as a home decor...

Powerful! Isn't it ? :)

I really like the vibrant and bold colors on this painting.
You can find this piece on Shirts, Cell cases, posters and more... on my Digital Painting Shop.

Thanks for visiting, stay tuned for more surprising designs:)

Blonde Ambition - Illustration

Hi there!

I never was a big fun of Adobe Illustrator. I tried it once but it was too illogical :P. Lately, after a long time of digital painting with Photoshop, I decided to give it another try. I was more careful, and studied only the essentials, that were needed for digital painting, and vector art. Luckily, I'm getting the hang of it, and now, it is easier for me to explore this software.

Here is a pop art illustration of a beautiful Nordic blonde, that I've created with Illustrator. I like it a lot, and it is already available at my Redbubble online store!

Take a look :

I already created more exciting illustration and I will post them later on, stay tuned!

Red Bull - A Doodle on Steroids

Here is another doodle that I've created recently, it was so powerful and was the logo of my favorite childhood basket ball team :)

I've doodled a bull, an angry muscular one... and I thought : this one deserves  more tlc, I had bigger plans for this one...

Don't get me wrong, I like the doodle very much, it is so powerful and clean, but I thought it had more potential.

So I tried to color it in many ways, tried various backgrounds and textures, and finally I found a magical combination. Check it out

I never thought of it, while I was painting the piece, but It reminds me the Chicago Bulls mascot, in the good old times - the Jordan era :)

Check out this Bad Boy on a T Shirt and a Tote Bag - very cool, isn't it ;)

Digitally Painted Alley Cat

Hi there,

Last week I wanted to draw something quickly, since I'm a pet portrait artist, I paint mostly dogs. This time I wanted to sketch a cat. Quickly and loosely. I finished the sketched and started to paint it freely. One thing lead to another and I found myself looking at a dirty, tough alley cat, lying in a dark street. I kept the sketchy lines in order to keep a rough and urban ambiance.

I really liked the result and decided to share it with you.

If you like this Piece you can purchase it on my Redbubble Shop

Until next time! Have a wonderful day :)

Quick and Loose Portrait of Ringo Starr

I love the Beatles, and I guess that many of you love them too...

Naturally we all been focusing on Paul, John and George. Most of us have been ignoring Ringo, never considering him as a real singer and composer. Fortunately, I've been listening to the 'Record Store Day' on the radio, two weeks ago. Between all the songs there, they broadcasted an old Ringo's album from 1976. I liked it very much, and wanted to hear more of his stuff. His early records are real gems! I couldn't stop hearing them, especially his Country Album  "Beaucoups of Blues".

Check out this lovely song (from another album Ringo's Rotogravure) - not of his best, but quite entertaining :)

Well, after hearing Ringo all day, I unintentionally started to doodle his face, real quick. Just loose and fun portrait. A small tribute to this great fun loving musician.

Intense Looking Baboon Face - Watercolor

Hi there,

I wanted to paint something different this time, something more loose, freestyle. I saw a portrait of a serious looking baboon with his bold face colors, and decided to paint it in (even more) dramatic style. I've used watercolors in several layers, and some pastels for the eyes, beard and fur. I was surprised with the reaction of the people who saw it. They were stunned and impressed, I guess that the whole piece looks intense and eye catching. The penetrating eyes and the bold vibrant colors make the trick.

An Inside Look - Speed Painting a Cocker Spaniel (Demo Clip)

Hi there!

Recently I decided to capture my work, using a screen capture program. I wanted to give you an inside look at my Digital Finger Painting technique. I use this technique while I am painting my Custom Pet Art on DigitalDogPortraits.com.

I've edited 6 hours of work to 4 min, it took some time but I finally did it. I must tell you that the most challenging task was to find a proper sound track (just kidding :) but yeah, it was exhausting)

So take a look. I hope you'd enjoy it,  I think it's pretty cool :)

Funky Giraffe on a Shirt

Hi there,

Lately I've been sketching and painting many portraits, using old media techniques like watercolor, pencils etc. I wanted to create something new and fresh using digital painting. You may have noticed that I am painting a lot of dog portraits, I love it! But I wanted to do something different.

I've visioned a cool Tshirt with a colorful and funny looking giraffe on it, and it felt so right, so I started to work on it. I wanted the giraffe to be cool, I didn't want to use ordinary colors. The portrait is very "urban" and somewhat messy, not the neat portrait that I usually do.

Take a look, isn't it a cool shirt? :)

That's it for now, I intend to work on more funny looking animals, stay tuned!

Old and Blue

A few months ago I've stumbled upon an old book of a famous Israeli photographer, Rudi Weissenstein. He was capturing the Holly Land since the 30's or so... his work was mainly capturing landscapes and the ambiance of the early days in the new country. I really like those old photographs, imagining how was to live back then...
Everything looks more mysterious and magical in black and white, but clearly those people had the same emotions and everyday conflicts like all of us.

I was looking at one of Rudi's favorite portraits of an old man praying, and I thought that he actually looks tired and sad - he was old and blue.

Using watercolor and graphite I started to paint my own version, coloring it with the color of sadness - blue.

Take a look at the final result

Can you feel the emotion? Do you feel sometimes old and blue yourself?

On another note..
Lately I've created many new pieces that I haven't published yet... but I promise to publish them soon - so stay tuned :)

Hope you enjoyed this post, have a great day!

Smiling Indian Girl - Watercolor Pencils on Paper

Hi there!

Lately I'm experimenting more and more with watercolor pencils, it's very portable and easy to use. The downside however (to my opinion) is the texture and the way it dries on the paper, it is not as smooth as regular watercolor, and the pencils don't blend so good (again to my opinion).

Anyway I decided to paint/draw another portrait, this time of an Indian girl. I wanted to use bold colors and to emphasis her smile. I used brush 4 on this painting and it was pretty ok, but not perfect. Luckily this week I'm going to get some watercolor supply including brushes, papers and colors from a relative who is a painter :)

Here is the portrait, hope you'll like it :)

Next time I'll use the new equipment I really want to see the difference - stay tuned!

A Day in the Life of a Pet Artist - Sketch

Hi there,

Last week I wanted to sketch something special, something different. I just sat in front of the table, and started to draw without thinking. I was sketching myself, in a point of view position - means I was sketching myself sketching. This unusual angle was very appealing and interesting, and I got a lot of nice comments on this draw.

In the little sketch that I was sketching, I decided to draw a portrait of a dog, as a symbol of my occupation - a pet portrait artist.

Take a look at the sketch and tell me what you think :)

By the way - if you want to see the actual dogs that I'm painting take a look at DigitalDogPortraits.com - Custom Pet Art.
