Here Comes the Rooster II

Here's a painting that I completed 2 weeks ago, I really like it - it developed during the painting process and I used 3 different painting softwares just to get the desired result. An impressive orange rooster, that will wake everybody up :) The whole atmosphere in this painting is in retro style, one can really see the old faded canvas material.

By the way - the softwares that I used for this painting are - Rebelle 2 by Escape Motions | Corel Painter by Corel | Photoshop by Adobe.

Here is our guy :)

Loose Fiat 500 Digital Oil Painting

I really love those cute little European cars, especially Italians :) and decided to paint one of my all time favorites - Fiat 500!
Yes, they launched a new (and beautiful) design a few years ago, but I always prefer the good old stuff!

So.. here is my loose digital oil painting of a classic Fiat Cinquecento (500). I used the faboulous ArtRage painting software, it's just great and simulates the oil layers very well!

Here is my painting on a tote bag, you can get it on other products as well.

A Cat (Old Children Book Style)

Many years ago I got the classic Alice in Wonderland as a birthday gift. The book as you know is magnificent, but the illustrations are marvelous too, they immediately captured my eyes. In a matter of fact many illustrations of those old children books have a magical and mysterious feel.

Those images waited in the back of my mind for many years... Until now.

Two weeks ago I took some photos at the local dog shelter, one of the photos (of a cat) wasn't so good, but the composition and the shadows have triggered my imagination. Take a look at the picture:

I started to sketch using graphite, and those old children books images took over the paper. I really liked the final result:

I definitely going to sketch some more images using this magical style.

Hi there!

Yesterday, while I was showing my work during a business meeting, I received an email : "Your product won today's best awards" it was the second time in two months! You can imagine my surprise and happiness.

It was another of my vintage style patterns. I love to create them, to feel and to think about the nostalgic atmosphere that I want to evoke.

Take a look at the pattern :

Immediately I imagined this pattern as home decor, using throw pillows for example.
and the result was this :

Chocolate Banana-Punch Pattern

Hi there,

I am on the roll with the vintage patterns :)
Today I decided to mix a nostalgic combination of colors - pink, brown, yellow and light blue. Why nostalgic? In the late 70's early 80's, when I was a child, there was a very popular ice cream flavor - chocolate, banana punch. It wasn't my favorite flavor, but now I think of it very fondly, good times.
It's a simple but very lovely and optimistic vintage pattern, take a look:

I could imagine this pattern on a pillow or on a bag - it looks great!

That's it for today, thank you for visiting :)

Pop Art - Retro Style Hi Top Converse All Star

Hi there,

Maybe some of you have noticed that I'm very fond of 70s-80s retro style items. It reminds me my childhood and more innocent times. This time I wanted to make a tribute to the all time retro style sneaker - the classic navy (blue) hi top Converse All Star (Chuck Taylor). Though this shoe is almost 100 years old, it always reminds me the 80s, it was extremely popular in that decade.

I decided to make a Vector Art image of the sneaker, and to use an orange background to enhance the retro feel. The image is semi realistic.

I Just love this sneaker and wanted to show my appreciation :)

Because it's such a popular-culture icon, it deserves its own Pop Art portrait! Like any other famous personality, heck it is more popular than Marilyn Monroe (I assume :)).

So I honored the sneaker with this:

Yeah... I really like those shoes :)

Purchase this Tshirt or other products with this design

You can purchase this All Star illustration, on Tshirts, phone cases, and on other cool products - at RedBubble

Digital Art - Worn Vintage Style

Hi there!

Yesterday I wanted to create something different from the regular art that I usually do. So I played around, thinking and thinking, and finally I decided to create a Vintage pattern. I was using photoshop to create the basic pattern. I was thinking about circles, squares, some retro colors, and the final result was this :

I was quite happy, but I felt something was missing... the pattern, the colors and the geometrical figures were perfect for me, but I felt the the feel is not there yet, I wanted more used touch.

Suddenly it hit me! everybody is posting vintage-like photos, using apps like instagram or pixlr-o-matic, in order to create an instant retro feel. I don't like to use those apps, but just for this case, I thought, let's give it a try, let's see how those apps will work with digital art.
I just wanted the final touch, and after several experiments, I found the correct one, take a look:

The worn and used feel that I've been looking for!

I could really imagine this pattern on some products, and well... you'll be the judge :

Is it true vintage or what? :)
