Here Comes the Rooster II

Here's a painting that I completed 2 weeks ago, I really like it - it developed during the painting process and I used 3 different painting softwares just to get the desired result. An impressive orange rooster, that will wake everybody up :) The whole atmosphere in this painting is in retro style, one can really see the old faded canvas material.

By the way - the softwares that I used for this painting are - Rebelle 2 by Escape Motions | Corel Painter by Corel | Photoshop by Adobe.

Here is our guy :)

Chromatic Bearded Dragon Painting

Recently I had a request for a Bearded Dragon painting. I checked out this creature, and it is quite impressive (and scary at times). I doodled something really quick, and painted it loosely. The end result turned to be colorful and vibrant.

I really like it. Check it out:

Iconic Ford Escort From the 70s - Illustration

Hi there,

Are you ready for the second post on the common popular cars of the 70s?

This car was one of my personal favorites as a kid, I always admired its shape and design. It was very popular in the 70s and the 80s, but the design has changed. Ford has changed the grille and it lost its charm (to my opinion).

This illustration, includes the American flag behind, one can notice that the stars on the flag pop like bubbles on a Coca Cola drink (another American icon).

Soooo here it is :

You can get this design on my Redbubble shop, check it out!

Here is this iconic piece of machine as a framed art

It was a real treat to pay a tribute to this legendary car!

Johann Sebastian Bach - Pop Art

Hi there!

Have you heard about Johann Sebastian Fabulous? No? Well... you're going to meet him immediately :)

I just wanted to create an unusual Pop Art portrait of someone, who is not considered as a popular culture icon. And I thought that Johann Sebastian Bach, would fit perfectly for my little project. I mean... his wig and appearance is so epic, I wanted to make it even more fun.

First, I sketched his portrait quickly with Sketchbook - just to have something to work with.
Here is the rough quick sketch :

I kind of liked it, but I was focused on my goal.
I took this sketch and used Adobe Illustrator to vector it, tweak it a little and to color it like a human peacock.

After my treatment he has got California tan, and colorful feathers. Now he looked like a complete funky Diva :)

Check it out :

Isn't he super fabulous? :)

Look how good he looks on a pillow!

You can find this Pop Art portrait on many products (including Tshirts, posters, cell cases and more) on my Redbubble Store and on Zazzle.

Chem them out I'm sure you'll love them!

Have a colorful day!

Intense Looking Baboon Face - Watercolor

Hi there,

I wanted to paint something different this time, something more loose, freestyle. I saw a portrait of a serious looking baboon with his bold face colors, and decided to paint it in (even more) dramatic style. I've used watercolors in several layers, and some pastels for the eyes, beard and fur. I was surprised with the reaction of the people who saw it. They were stunned and impressed, I guess that the whole piece looks intense and eye catching. The penetrating eyes and the bold vibrant colors make the trick.

Gorgeous Retro Pattern in Blue Tones

Hi there,

I just finished to design a background for a client who ordered a custom pet portrait on DigitalDogPortraits.com, and  I just fell in love with it! It looks simple but it's quite sophisticated and has a certain calm feeling. I wanted to make a random pattern, I've painted squares without a certain order, and washed it with an urban filter. The result was too good, that it was a crime just to waste it on a single background. So I've created this cushion.

Funky Giraffe on a Shirt

Hi there,

Lately I've been sketching and painting many portraits, using old media techniques like watercolor, pencils etc. I wanted to create something new and fresh using digital painting. You may have noticed that I am painting a lot of dog portraits, I love it! But I wanted to do something different.

I've visioned a cool Tshirt with a colorful and funny looking giraffe on it, and it felt so right, so I started to work on it. I wanted the giraffe to be cool, I didn't want to use ordinary colors. The portrait is very "urban" and somewhat messy, not the neat portrait that I usually do.

Take a look, isn't it a cool shirt? :)

That's it for now, I intend to work on more funny looking animals, stay tuned!

Naive Horse Ride

Hi there!

Have you ever heard about naive art?
Naive art is often characterized by childlike lines - simple, easy on the eyes and dream like appearance.
In the past, the artists who have created this kind of art, had no art degree nor training. The images has no perspective, light/shadow or subtle hues and colors. The "real" artists, museums and galleries had no respect for those paintings, no artistic value at all.
In the 20th century, this technique eventually has gained the proper recognition, and today we have academies for naive art.
I find this art quite interesting, because it doesn't follow the rules that were defined by the classic painters, especially regarding perspective.

Other characteristics :
1. Simple story or subjects
2. Idealization of reality
3. Saturated colors
4. Texture, expressions, proportions and anatomical correctness - almost completely ignored.

If you want to see some examples of this art check out one of the online galleries, such as Gina.

I wanted to created some naive art of my own for a long time, something dreamy, simple and unreal.
This photo that I took has given me an inspiration

I imagined a horse, running free in a green field. Calm and relaxing ambiance. Dreamy and colorful background wrapping the subject. take a look :

What do you think?

Do you like this kind of art?

I'd love to read your comments :)

Digital Art - Surreal Party

Hi there,

Some days I can get no inspiration...
I'm doing all the boring and mechanical work (such as marketing) without a problem, but when I need to be creative I just can't think of anything.

To break this barrier, I tried to do an experiment, to draw automatically things and ideas that pop up in my head, without thinking too much.

I was adding item after item, and suddenly it was easier to continue. The muse came back!

The result was weird, refreshing and surprising...

This technique is like dreaming - sometimes makes no sense, sometimes confusing, but always makes you think.

I was so happy with that, and certainly will practice again this technique very soon.
